The Wichita Falls Wildcats are in their sixth season in the North American Hockey League. Hockey has been in Wichita Falls for eight seasons, which began with the Wichita Falls Rustlers of the America West Hockey League in the 2002-03 seasons. Last season, the Wildcats finished third in the South Division with a record of 24-25-9. In their previous five seasons, the Wildcats have appeared in the playoffs four times, including a first-round loss last season to the Topeka Roadrunners, a series in which the home team won every game. The Wildcats are looking to build on last year's successes under the tutelage of John Bowkus, now entering his third season as head coach.
Learn to Skate Program
No skating experience is needed for this class. Skates are provided and the class is open to all ages. The program is designed to teach individuals the basic, safe and most importantly, fun ways to ice skate. There will be six, one hour classes with the Wildcats players instructing a designed program. Bring a light jacket, long socks and helmet to begin your skating experience today. Class dates are as follows: Monday, October 5th, 12th, 19th, Monday November 2nd, 9th, and 16th. Classes will be from 6:00 – 7:00 Pm.
Open Skate
Enjoy two hours of fun-filled ice skating! Skate rental is available, with sizes ranging from 10 kids to 13 adults. Birthday parties are available during open skate times. Great for churches, companies, and any kind of celebration that you may want to have on the ice. Discount for groups of 15 or more. See you on the ice!
Broomball League
The Wildcats will be forming their second coed broomball league this year. Broomball is similar to ice hockey: it is played on a regular ice hockey arena and broomball players run on the ice shooting and passing a rubber ball to score. The ball is approximately six inches in diameter. Special brooms will be provided. Broomball is a great activity for exercise and for churches, companies and a group of friends that want to get on the ice without skates and have a great time. Games start Monday, October 5th, 12th, 19th, November 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, December, 7th with play-offs on December 14th. Games will be played at 7:30 and 8:30 pm. Teams must consist of 15 players. Get your team together today!!!
Mini Mites Hockey
Do you have a child aged 4 to 7 years old who is a hockey maniac and wants to become the next Wildcats hockey player? This is the program for you. The Mini-Mites will meet once a week with an instructed practice for an hour. This program is designed to prepare this age group to become a Mite hockey player by the time they reach 7 years old. Once they are that age they will have the basic knowledge for the game and will be able to play at the next level in the youth hockey league. The players will be coached by Moose Panik Practices start Saturday, October 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, Monday November 7th,14th, 21st, 28th, Monday December 5th, 12th. Practice times will be from 9:00 – 10:00 am.
Adult Hockey League
The Adult Hockey League consists of four teams, playing an eight game season. Open to ages 16 and older and all skill levels. Games will be played one night a week with each team only playing one game a night. First game will start at 7:45 pm with the second game immediately following at 9:15 pm.
